Education Secretary to headline Schools North East Summit
Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, will be the keynote speaker at the Schools North East Summit 2019, it was announced today.
The profile of the annual leadership conference continues to grow, attracting speakers of the highest calibre to the North East to speak to an audience of 500 school leaders.
Mr Hinds will be the second Education Secretary to address the Schools North East Summit, following in the footsteps of Justine Greening who made her maiden external speech following her appointment to office in 2016.
Last year’s Summit garnered national news coverage when Amanda Spielman, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools, used the conference platform to announce her plans for a new curriculum-led Ofsted inspection framework.
The Schools North East events programme has continued to attract high-profile national speakers, including an appearance by Schools Minister Lord Agnew, as keynote speaker at the Schools North East Academies Conference.
Mr Hinds is expected to update Summit delegates on progress in the delivery of the £24m Opportunity North East programme, as well as other developments in education policy that will support the school system in the North of England.
