North East school provides festive alternative trip for pupils

We were all very disappointed when we made the difficult decision to postpone our Victorian day at Beamish Museum because of the rising number of Covid cases in one of our KS2 classes.

The children were so disappointed about not being able to take part in our Victorian classroom workshop so we decided to bring the Victorian classroom to the children! All Key Stage Two staff dressed up in Victorian costume and we surprised the children by ringing the bell when they arrived and getting them to line up in silence!

We taught the rest of the day in character including lessons on the 3Rs and a recital of our times tables.

The children thoroughly enjoyed being taught in a Victorian classroom and it was an excellent way to round off our learning in History this term.

We will hopefully participate in the Victorian classroom at Beamish in the Summer Term.
