Special Easter visitor for Durham primary school
Children at a County Durham primary school were overjoyed to meet – and feed – a lamb in school. In the run up to Easter, St Godric’s Catholic Primary School, in County Durham, were overjoyed to meet a special furry guest.
The school is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust.
Special Easter Visitor
St Godric’s school hosted the special visitor brought in by Robert Norris, who is in reception.
The cute lamb was a hit with all the children who were very excited to have a go at bottle-feeding. The visit boosted the wellbeing of students before they went home for their Easter break. Mason Coxon, a Year 2 pupil, said:
“The lamb was very cute and it made me feel very calm.”
Elena Cubillas-Espino, also in Year 2, commented:
“It was adorable and it made me feel very happy.”
Julie Hill, Executive Head Teacher at the school in Wheatley Hill, stated:
“At St Godric’s Catholic Primary School in Thornley, children have been learning about signs of Spring and new life, and they have had a very special visitor in school. Staff at St Godric’s always look for opportunities to excite and engage our pupils through real-life experiences. How lucky the children were when Robert offered to bring his lamb to school.”
Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East commented:
“We are delighted to see St Godric’s finding special ways to engage with their students. The visit surely had a massive impact on not only the well-being of the students but also in creating positive memories that will stick with the students for a long time. Well done to St Godric’s and Robert for providing students with this opportunity heading into their Easter break. We hope you all had a well deserved Easter break.”
