We are positively THRILLED to announce that our Annual Summit is only SIX DAYS AWAY!
Well, to be exact, it’s five days, 20 hours, 14 minutes, and 31 seconds away at the time of posting this article. But hey, who’s counting?
(…we are!)
The whole team at Schools North East has been incredibly busy this week, finalising details and putting together those last-minute arrangements to ensure all 500 attendees get the best possible experience on the day.
It’s the ‘must attend’ leadership event in the North East, which means it’s our responsibility to ensure that everything is just peachy…and boy does that require some hard graft! We wouldn’t have it any other way, though.
“Wait, which event are you talking about?”
If you’ve not heard about the Schools North East Annual Summit event yet, we can only assume you’ve been living under a rock – especially throughout these last few months.
The Summit is attended by hundreds of school leaders from the North East, and is an event that promises an exciting exhibition, provocative keynote sessions from gifted speakers, and noteworthy, not-to-be-missed networking opportunities.
This year’s event will take place at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on October 19, and the theme is Great North Schools: A Manifesto for Change. Oh, and the 2023 programme flaunts some very special guest speakers…

- Professor Steve Peters – Consultant Psychiatrist, Bestselling Author & CEO Chimp Management
- Professor Stephen Gorard – Education & Public Policy and Director of the Evidence Centre for Education, Durham University
Haven’t you been spoiled?! This year, like every year, we wanted to make sure that our community gets the most exciting, knowledgeable, and memorable experience possible. It’s the least you all deserve after such a difficult past few years.
The 2023 event is on track to become a sell-out (again) which means you’re reading this at an incredibly crucial time. There are only a handful of spaces remaining so please book your tickets here before it’s too late. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
So, what have we been up to this week?
The Schools North East team has been hard at work ensuring everything is in place for the big day. As you can imagine, an event of this magnitude requires numerous different components, so we’ve had to get comfortable with spinning a few plates here and there. Good thing we’re great at that!
We can’t give too much away (no one likes a spoiler) but here’s a flavour of what a few of the team have been up to across the last seven days:
Lindsay, Business Manager, has been in regular contact with attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors, ensuring everyone has all the information they need to have a cracking time on October 19.
Shanon, Marketing & Communications Officer, has been writing and designing a range of event materials – such as the Summit 2023 handbook and venue videos – to help maximise the experience.
Pauline (Deputy Director), Harry (Policy Officer), and Georgia (newly appointed Deputy Events Manager) have been instrumental in offering valuable feedback, fresh perspective, and crucial suggestions at every stage this week.
Chris, Director, has been occupied with the preparation of his welcome speech and overseeing the whole operation.
And last but certainly not least, Rose and Anna, Events Coordinator and Events Manager respectively, have been busy sorting out…well, pretty much everything!
This week has been an especially bustling one for them both as they worked to finalise details with the venue and catering company; organised the session slides and presentations for each speaker; assembled the delegate bags (come on, we all love a tote bag full of valuable information and resources); conclude final arrangements with the event speakers; and so, so much more.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you all
So much time and effort goes into arranging an event as important as this one, but we wouldn’t change it for the world.
Really, it’s an honour. Together, we’ve helped build this incredible community since 2007, and you should know by now just how much we value every single person in it. Occasions like the #SNESummit23 reminds the North East education sector of all the reasons why we’re so special.
