Shadow Schools Minister confirms attendance at our Academies Conference next week!

19th January 2024

If you didn’t think the Schools North East Academies Conference 2024 could get any better, just hold onto your desk chair…

Catherine McKinnell MP, Shadow Minister for Schools, has confirmed her attendance and will address the audience in what’s sure to be an insightful occasion you’ll not want to miss.

Born in Denton, Newcastle, Catherine’s roots in the North East are deep. She grew up in the West End of the city and attended Sacred Heart Comprehensive School in Fenham, and her family goes back generations in this area.

What do you currently have planned on 25 January? If it’s not diving into inspiring sessions and forging new connections at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle, we strongly advise you shuffle some things around.

Fortunately, you still have time. But it is running out quickly. Book the Academies Conference 2024 here.

Perfect timing with an upcoming election

As we all know, a general election is looming. When exactly it’ll be, no one knows, not even Sunak by the sounds of it (insert ‘surprise, surprise’ comment here), but he has suggested it will take place in the 'second half' of this year.

And when it does, we want to be confident that we have all our ducks in a row.

If the labour party wins the next election, Catherine McKinnell will become the new Schools Minister, which would certainly shake things up for the education sector. Not just in the North East, but across the country.

Her presence at the Academies Conference 2024 could be the perfect opportunity for us to showcase all the ways in which our region’s education staff are so brilliant (if we do say so ourselves), as well as reiterate exactly what it is that we’re missing, and what she needs to do in her existing – and perhaps future – role to assist.

If you want the opportunity to help influence the thoughts, ideas, understanding, and opinions of the Shadow Minister for Schools, you should know exactly where you need to be next week.
