New Year, new threads: Young footballers gear up for success in new kit

9th February 2024

Thanks to an exciting new sponsorship deal, this Blackhall football team has kicked 2024 off with a new footie strip – and it’s safe to say they’ve scored!

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, was kindly gifted the new super cool football strip from the Royal British Legion and Securi Serve.

Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East, said: “Looking good, guys and girls! There’s nothing like a fresh kit and a fresh start to reignite a sporting passion. Here’s hoping you enjoy lots of success in your new strip!”

An exciting partnership

Head Teacher Lisa Ashton explained: “One of our parents, Martin Close, who is a member of the Royal British Legion Easington District, secured the sponsorship to provide our children with a new football strip.

“The new kit will make a huge difference to the children of St Joseph’s for many years to come. The children and staff were thrilled and very grateful to our amazing community for the donation of the new kit.”

Year 6 pupil Lucy Close, 10, who is a member of the football team, said: “I think it is really nice they were donated to our lovely school. We are really grateful and they look really good.”

Graham Mercer and Martin Close from the Easington District of the Royal British Legion, and Matt Williams, from SecuriServe, even visited the school to present the children with the new kit! What an honour.

“Everyone at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the truly amazing efforts you have gone to, to donate a fabulous football kit to our children,” added Mrs Ashton.

Now that it’s officially the spring term, the budding footballers can finally look ahead to playing again – but this time dressed in their new kits! All the best, team!
