Ensure the voice of your school is heard with the Schools North East State of the Region survey

21st February 2022

We are passionate about giving the schools of this region a powerful platform to air their views and a collective voice lobbying on the issues that matter the most to them.  The feedback we receive from our State of the Region survey is crucial in getting the voice of North East schools heard by policy makers.

We share the anonymised results with our region’s MPs, Ministers across government departments, DfE, Ofsted and the media – national and regional; working hard to ensure that those who make the key decisions that affect your students, staff, and communities understand the realities of what you face every day.

Schools North East also works with local and national news outlets to get the messages straight from your school to the public, with many of the issues you raised in our November survey gaining extensive coverage from the BBC, ITV and national and regional newspapers.

Our latest State of the Region survey is now open and we want to hear the views of senior leaders from schools across the North East. Every half term, we ask the same set of questions (as well as additional ones, where relevant) to gather a snapshot of the situation in North East schools and to track how the situation develops throughout the academic year.

The main issues highlighted in our survey from November 2021 included enormous Covid-related disruption with high levels of staff and student absences, Ofsted pressures, and increasing workload related to ‘catch-up’; all severely impacting on staff and student wellbeing.
