Launched in 2024, The Schools North East Podcast is a source for better understanding the critical issues facing our education system today (from a North East England perspective).
Our schools are just as important as those elsewhere across the country, which is why they deserve this platform to share their triumphs and tribulations directly with the North East community and beyond.
By sharing their success stories, together we promote a positive narrative of North East schools. Similarly, by sharing their challenges, together we lobby for the change our region needs to see.
Education policy must take into account local context and not use a ‘one size fits all’ approach, and The Schools North East Podcast is yet another way we remind those at the forefront of decision making that our region LEADS NOT PLEADS.
We have always provided a strategic voice for our members; the only difference now is that this voice can be heard on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Podbean!
Listen to the first podcast series now
In our first series, we gain invaluable insights from sector leaders and influential figures from the region and beyond, including Colin Lofthouse (CEO, SMART Academies Trust), Alex Fairlamb (Assistant Principal, Kings Priory School) and Mary Myatt (renowned education adviser, writer and speaker).
Policy must be made in consultation with school leaders and those at the ‘chalkface’, which is why it’s important for us to sit down with them and really delve into their challenges, experiences, and motivations.
