How to Maximise the Benefit from Capital Grant Funding Applications (Aura)

Capital funding for schools comes from many sources with funding streams opening regularly throughout the year.
Sector wide experience has found that most academies, if not all, that are successful in obtaining grants find that funding bodies like to see projects which have been well thought out and are developed to a stage where the project is ‘ready to go’.

Funders are keen to sponsor projects that support the longer term position of an academy rather than those that are seen to be a short term fix.  With this in mind planning and preparation is essential, an academy should have in place the following documentation:

  • outline designs
  • cost estimates
  • programmes
  • a risk assessment
  • delivery plan
  • planning permission (if required)
  • condition survey
  • utilities study

These individual elements are often best combined into a feasibility study looking at the educational development of the site overtime.

The fact that technical expertise is required at such an early stage shows how applications are assessed by funding bodies, such as the Education Funding Agency, who are utilising technical professionals.

Evolution recognises the need for academies to obtain capital grants and other funding streams in this economic climate and as such has established a working partnership with leading technical professionals who can support you in the preparation of your application.
