Head Teacher positions ‘hard to fill’

The target culture, rising workloads and cuts in pay are putting teachers off from stepping up to the role of Headship, according to new research commissioned by the NAHT. More than a third of primary schools and almost a fifth of secondary schools were found to struggle when advertising the position last year. Roman Catholic schools face the most acute shortages because of their recruitment criteria.
