For a lot of the children this was their first time away from home. Everybody had a brilliant time and the children have benefitted enormously from this experience. Some of the major benefits have been improved self help skills, working as a team and communicating with each other. In addition, they learnt new sports skills and increased their self esteem and confidence.
Our autistic children often sit alone for meals but at Calvert Kielder they sat together and talked to each other. They shared bedrooms and developed friendships. This was a big achievement for our children.

I would just like to say a really big thank you to you and everyone at the Calvert Trust. The whole experience from start to finish was perfect.
The reception staff/Guest services were helpful, the activities staff were great and the catering staff were spot on (food was fantastic).
Everyone said how good the visit was, how clean the site is and all of this made the experience for the pupils (and staff) an excellent one.
I am sure we'll be back in touch soon looking at booking next years residential.
