Twitter: Why schools should use it and how to be effective

7th Nov 2013

NB: This is a partner event, please contact the provider above regarding booking

Most schools are already on Twitter, even if they don't realise that they are. Not having a school's Twitter page does not mean that schools aren't on Twitter – it simply means that they aren't engaging with people on Twitter who are already talking about them. That's a missed opportunity.

This presentation is tailored to support Head Teachers and members of the Senior Leadership Team understand how Twitter can become an integral part of their school's marketing strategy. It will cover the following aspects of why Twitter should become part of a school's marketing strategy and how to make the most of it to engage with your communities:

• What is Twitter?
• Why are people using it?
• Should you ignore it or engage with it?
• Aligning with your marketing strategy
• Getting started
• Expanding your coverage
• Good Twitter writing
• What not to Tweet
• Addressing staff's personal Twitter accounts
• Measuring your influence

This seminar will be presented by Muckle LLP's Director of Business Development, Justin Barlow. Justin has over 20 years of marketing experience which, more recently, includes five years as a school governor, running the marketing committee and working closely with the Head Teacher. Justin is responsible for Muckle LLP's Twitter presence at @MuckleLLP, which was awarded the national "Tweeter of the Week" in June 2013, 8 months after making the firm's first Tweet.

The free seminar will take place on Thursday 7 November with registration at 8.30am for a 9.00am start and will end by 10.30am. It is held at Muckle LLP’s offices near St. James' Park in Newcastle. Register your place here.
