Training for teaching assistants: making all support count

4th Feb 2013

'Teachers and other adults generate high levels of engagement and commitment to learning across the whole school.' Ofsted, July 2012.

With a greater focus on the role of teaching assistants schools need to be sure that there is real and sustained impact on pupils’ learning and progress. This one-day course looks at how additional adults in the classroom can improve pupils’ learning. It focuses on how they can provide effective support to the class teacher in a thoughtful, pro-active and self-initiating manner.  It will also cover strategies for taking the whole class as a substitute teacher. Participants will develop a better understanding of how pupils learn and they will gather practical strategies to take back to use in the classroom.

In-school, cluster and federation training is also available for this course and can be tailored to your needs.
