Looking for inspiration for RSE? Explore a range of positive and inclusive artistic stimuli you could use to supplement your lesson plans.

Arts education company, Changing Relations, have developed an brand new resource to support schools - and others who work with young people - to explore sexual attitudes and behaviours.

What's all the fuss about? is a tabloid-style newspaper, filled with engaging artwork commissioned by young people in HE and FE settings, designed to address what they felt was missing from their own experience of RSE in Secondary schools, namely:

  • Positive role-modelling of healthy relationships of all kinds, not just sexual
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusion in RSE narratives
  • A challenge to the tendency to inadvertently victim-blame when talking about unhealthy sexual behaviours

Education North Tyneside will host an after-school teacher CPD session in which you will have the opportunity to work with Changing Relations' new resource to identify stimuli you could use to:

  • Question the language young people use in relation to sex & body parts
  • Explore the different types of relationships in our lives, what we want from relationships and what qualities positive relationships of all kinds have in common
  • Ensure your RSE is LGBTQIA+ inclusive
  • Switch the narrative around unhealthy sexual attitudes and behaviours to ensure we are holding the appropriate parties responsible, rather than inadvertently excusing them by focusing our response on what victims "should" do to keep themselves safe

Book your place and get a free copy of What's all the fuss about? to take away.

With many thanks to Education North Tyneside for providing refreshments and a venue for this event.
