Roundtable with Sir David Bell

Thursday 16th May, 08.30-11.30

In May we are holding one of our CEO roundtables as a physical event where we will be joined by a guest speaker, Sir David Bell, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sunderland
Sir David Bell is the current Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sunderland and former Chief Inspector. In October 2023, it was announced that Sir David would be leading the Labour Party’s review into early years. While Sir David will focus on this review, discussions will look at the wider ambitions of the Labour Party on education, and how we can work across the education and childcare sector to influence policy. As such, this roundtable will be relevant to all stages of education.

Our roundtables this academic year will have a more strategic focus, looking in detail at individual policy issues and showcasing the solutions and good practice in our region, allowing North East schools to ‘lead not plead’. Conversations at these roundtables will inform Schools North East’s policy lobbying work, and help us refresh our recommendations in our 2019 Manifesto for North East Education.
