Professional development for teachers of KS3/4 Mathematics - Teaching GCSE Mathematics

Starting February 2015 in partnership with the Great North Maths Hub and George Stephenson High School, Newcastle. A year long course focusing on mathematics subject knowledge and classroom practice to enable non-specialists to teach KS4 mathematics effectively.
 

Course aims:-
Develop an understanding of Big Ideas in mathematics
Appreciate Principles of Effective Pedagogy in mathematics teaching
Gain a Toolbox of strategies for applying these principles in the classroom
Gain a deep understanding of the content of KS4 Mathematics up to, and including, Higher tier GCSE
 

The course includes:-
Five course days spread across the academic year where participants work together on aspects of mathematics
Regular live online sessions with an expert tutor giving inspirational ideas for teaching
Two years' access to teaching and learning resources specifically created to support participants in their classrooms
 

Course fees for 2014/15 are £500
