A simple ESafety tool that shows you what you need to do to make the use of technology safer for your children/group. Online Compass is a self review tool that allows you to rate your organisation’s online safety provision. Online Compass self review tool is divided into three sections, with each section containing a number of parts. Each part has three level statements - red, amber or green. You should choose the level statement which best matches your level of provision. The sections and parts are structured as follows:
Section 1 Management: Leadership, Policy, Reviewing Practice, Data Security
Section 2 People: Educating children, Training, Reporting, Sanctions
Section 3 Technology: Communications, Personal Devices, Digital Images, Your Technology, Filtering & Supervising, Monitoring

ESafety training is an essential element of staff induction and part on their ongoing CPD programme.
Workshop Content:
- The most effective ways in which leaders can engage staff, parents and children in the safety of the digital world
- The ESafety requirements stipulated by Ofsted
- How evidence sources, actions and commentary can be recorded and an action plan developed.
- The use of the links to other documents and resources section.
- How the school can benchmark its ESafety provision against the Online Compass self review tool.
- How the organisation, that meet the required benchmark, can apply for the Online Compass Mark.

Learning Objectives:
- To be aware of the 14 parts of ESafety within the Online Compass tool framework
- To know Ofsted ESafety requirements
- To be able to benchmark the 14 parts of ESafety to your organisation
- To understand the role each stakeholder has under ESafety (Children, Staff, Governors/committee members, Parents, ICT)
- To know the process of how to apply for the Online Compass tool
- Being able to put an Online Compass action plan highlighting best practice and AFI within the organisation
