Post-ITT Mathematics Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) for Key Stage 2 and 3 Teachers  at Gosforth Central Middle School, Newcastle

The Post-ITT Mathematics TSST (Teacher Subject Specialism Training) courses provide high quality professional development to those teaching mathematics at Key Stages 2 and 3.


The aims of the courses are to:
● enhance your mathematical knowledge to give you confidence to teach mathematics
● inspire your enthusiasm for mathematics
● provide you with motivating activities and tasks for teaching mathematics.

The courses will also:
● help teachers to deliver the demands of the new mathematics National Curriculum at Primary level and at Key Stage 3
● give opportunities for participation in lesson study to enhance and sustain innovation in mathematics teaching and learning.

This course is for teachers in the state sector and teaching (or intending to teach) mathematics in a primary or secondary school. For teachers meeting the criteria and supported by their Head Teacher, the course is FREE, funded through the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and run by Gosforth Central Middle School.

The course is taught through face to face sessions and e-learning, supported by the Centre for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching (CIMT) at Plymouth University, which provides the online assessment for a "Certificate of Mathematical Mastery" and opportunities to move on to Masters Degree modules.

The introductory meeting for this course will be held at Gosforth Central Middle School on Tuesday 13th October 2015 from 4.00pm – 6.00pm
