Health & Safety for School Business Managers

This workshop is designed to look at the Health and Safety related responsibilities that generally fall to a School Business Manager or safety lead within a school or academy.  The workshop focuses on how to manage down the risks associated with COSHH, fire, asbestos and legionella, introducing the key aspects of risk assessment.

By the end of the workshop, learners will be able to:

• Explain the key safety responsibilities they have and how the law applies to them
• Describe the steps required to make sure suitable and sufficient risk assessments are in place
• Describe key aspects of a COSHH assessment and explain why they are needed
• Explain risks associated with asbestos and the controls required in schools to reduce them
• Describe their fire related responsibilities
• Explain the risks associated with legionella and the associated tasks to reduce them
