Understanding light-related Smart and Advanced Materials
To celebrate the International Year of Light, this interactive day offers an opportunity for teachers of Design & Technology and Science to explore and develop their understanding of light-related Smart and Advanced Materials. Delegates will explore the materials’ uses in the classroom and applications within the D&T and Science curricula including teaching ‘light’ using new techniques and enhancing product development with modern materials.
The sessions will use hands-on practical examples incorporating the use of materials such as e-textiles, conductive threads, photo-sensitive paints, LEDs and optical fibres, as well as providing an opportunity to meet a local inventor who has used modern materials to transform an everyday object.
