Improving vocabulary and raising attainment for all

Knowledge about words underpins learning and ultimately achievement. To improve learning involves both vocabulary breadth and depth. This conference will focus on the development of whole school strategy and classroom pedagogy to empower pupils with words. Delegates will leave inspired and enthused with practical strategies to closing the vocabulary gap. The conference is aimed at both literacy leaders and English teachers. The morning will comprise of keynote speeches and a workshop session led by Alex Quigley. The afternoon will include further workshop sessions to share practical ideas to take back into the classroom and focus on the role of vocabulary within the new OFSTED framework.
Conference aims:

  • Raise the importance of vocabulary acquisition in schools
  • Provide practical solutions for  whole school approaches to integrate effective vocabulary teaching into lessons
  • Inspire teachers and literacy leads to take on the challenge of developing vocabulary across our schools
