Is Ofsted a political tool? Do teachers need to be qualified? What can we learn from other countries’ education systems? What do we learn from research? Do we need SATs?

This event is for anyone who is concerned about or interested in education nationally and in our local area. If you are a teacher, parent, governor, student or business person with a stake in how young people learn, please come along to express your views and hear the debate on current trends in the education world and how our schools are changing.

Speakers include:
• Kevin Courtney, Deputy General Secretary, NUT
• Professor Rob Coe, Professor of Education and Director of CEM, Durham University
• Pat Glass MP, Education Select Committee lead opposition member
• Sean Harford, HMI and Ofsted’s National Director for Schools
• Cllr David Simonds, Chairman LGA Children and Young People
