Ednorth Teach Meet - Metacognition

Thursday 26th October, 3.30 - 5.00pm

After a successful 2022/23 term the Ednorth TeachMeets are returning for the new academic year and the focus is on a new range of topics.

The first TeachMeet of the academic year will focus on Metacognition.

The Sutton Trust describes Metacognition as “Teaching approaches which make learners think about learning more explicitly. This is usually through teaching pupils strategies to plan, monitor and evaluate their own learning.” It is a word which comes up regularly when discussing education and classroom practices. It is threaded through many evidence-based study and is something which is believed to be critical to the learner because it optimises their basic cognitive processes, including memory, attention, activation of prior knowledge, and being able to solve or complete a task.

TeachMeets are not about being an expert or having “silver-bullet” solutions, they are about practitioners sharing their classroom experiences with colleagues. If you are interested in speaking at this TeachMeet please fill out the form here.
