Creative Careers and Pathways

Wednesday 14th December, 2.00 - 3.00pm

The creative industries are the fastest growing economic sector in the UK, they are growing rapidly in both value and employment opportunities in the north east.

Pat Chapman, Vice Principal of The Northern School of Art will give you an understanding of this covering:
· The creative industries, scale, growth and prospects
· A mini focus on the screen sector
· Pathways into progression
· Tools that schools, teachers and advisers can use
· What The Northern offers in terms of CPD, events, etc.

We know that the sector can be a bit of a mystery for those advising young people on careers and progression pathways. Pat will give you some pointers for resources.

Pat will also talk about the exciting and very current growth of the screen sector in the region, including the investment by the BBC and the further £11.4m being jointly invested by a partnership representing each of the regions councils.

Finally Pat will talk a little about The Northern School of Art which is the only specialist provider of education in the creative sector in the region and its free outreach activities to support teachers and advisers.
