Effective communication is the key to a successful school. One of the key skills of an individual is the ability to communicate with children, parents, team members, management, internal and external clients/customers. It is imperative that you must make your message understood and you must receive/understand the intended message sent to you.

In the current climate this communication has never been so important. Whether it be getting the most out of your staff or whether it be creating and capitalising on new opportunities – effective use of communication can help achieve your objectives and the school’s mission.

The use (and misuse) of humour at work
How to explain your ideas
How to improve your listening skills
How to handle a negative cynic
The use of affirmative language
How to use a rational, not emotional approach to constructive criticism and conflict
How to use factual language to criticise 
How to prepare your message in advance 
How to formulate a solution to the problem or difficult situation 
Distinguish "reasons" from "excuses" for not doing something
Know when to compromise (and when not to) 
The difference between assertive, aggressive and passive communication 
Body language and voice tone 
The use of praise and appreciation 
How to maintain your self-control and confidence 
Communication skills action plan
