Talentino is a niche career development company that specialises in programmes for young people with special needs particularly those with learning difficulties. Working across England in over 50 special schools, we listen to the widest range of stakeholders talk about what young people with SEND need to successfully transition to positive career outcomes. Talentino campaigns for these young people and has published a paper #sameandifferent making 7 recommendations many of which have been adopted this can be found on www.talentinocareers.co.uk

Young people with SEND need more access to structured training schemes offered by employers like supported internships and supported apprenticeships when they leave school, the support of local supported employment providers and Job coaches introduced into school before leaving, their families/carers encouraged to support their child’s career aspirations and finances explained simply. Colleges need to offer more rigorous courses which stretch and challenge. Local Authorities need to deliver their statutory responsibilities around careers advice and guidance more creatively and to be held to account for this.

Every year we run a conference for Special Schools about early career development, this year it is on 9th November at the Hilton in Reading email joanne@talentinocareers.co.uk for details. Tickets start at £295 for a whole day with lunch included.
