In focus – the early years curriculum!

Creating meaningful contexts for progressive teaching and learning in the early years

Keynote speaker: Jan Dubiel

Jan is a nationally and internationally recognised specialist in Early Childhood Education and has been identified by the Times Educational Supplement as one of the ten most influential people in British education. He was previously Director of Early Years at AISL Harrow International Schools and Head of National and International Development at Early Excellence. He has worked as a YN, YR and Y1 teacher, senior leader, consultant and adviser and national lead on the management of the (Early Years) Foundation Stage Profile with QCA.  He is currently the Programme Director for hey! (Hempsall’s Early Years). Jan has also written widely on different aspects of Early Years policy, pedagogy and practice.  His first book “Effective Assessment in the EYFS” being published by SAGE in 2014.

 

Based on developments undertaken during the Education Durham Early Years Curriculum Project, this conference will:

  • explore the principles and process of effective curriculum design and implementation in the early years
  • place a spotlight on the importance of learning behaviours within the curriculum
  • share school developments through a wide range of workshops led by participants of the Early Years Curriculum Project
  • support schools in reflecting, refining and developing practice and provision for their youngest children

 

Delegates will receive free access to the Education Durham interactive ‘Early Years Curriculum Look Book!’ which outlines the process of curriculum design and implementation and shares the journey and developments of project schools throughout this process.

 

Audience: Early years leaders and practitioners, Headteachers of primary, infant or nursery schools, and curriculum leaders

 

Early bird price: £120 for bookings received by 30 September 2024

Durham partner schools: £150 per person

Non-partner: £180 per person
