What can we learn from the first 100 Ofsted reports?

This training course is a chance for headteachers to hear the findings of an analysis of the first 100 reports from the new Ofsted Framework for primary schools as researched by course leader Dave Atkin. Delegates will gain an invaluable insight into the nuts and bolts of current report findings and recommendations. TARGET AUDIENCE: Headteachers and school leaders in primary schools.   COURSE CONTENT:  Dave Atkin's (course leader) research has produced a wealth of information which will be very valuable to headteachers and school leadership teams/governors in planning to meet the expectations of their next Ofsted inspection. The material covers the following topics:   The raw data – how many in each category across a region over the first four months; Reasons given for ‘good’ schools not yet being ‘outstanding’; Reasons given for schools said to be ‘requiring improvement’ rather than good; Examples of ‘special measures’ reports; Summaries of major features of nine outstanding primary schools; Criticisms of: Leadership; Teaching; Governance; ‘Ten Top Questions’ to ask about: Leadership; Teaching; Governance BEFORE Inspection.   There will be an opportunity for colleagues to work out how to translate this detailed information into diagnostic tools for use with their own staff and how to develop strategies to address areas for development which they may wish to target in advance of being told to do so by Ofsted.   The session will last just over two hours with opportunities for discussion and exchanging ideas as well as learning.
